Yeah, that’s right, my title is a bad pun that references an even worse song. Because that’s how I roll. Also how I roll? In thrifted clothes:
In fact, everything in this outfit is thrifted with the exception of the bangles (Nordstrom) and the necklace (vintage brooch-on-a-chain via Lil’ Gypsy). And with the exclusion of those items, this outfit cost me a whopping $9.97. The marigold blouse (never worn Liz Claiborne), which is silk and is the best color ever, was $1.98, the blue pleated skirt (vintage) was $3.00, the shoes (Franco Sarto) were $1.00 and the belt (Mossimo/Target) was $3.99.
For those of you who bet yourself that I’d wear a pleated skirt for the EBEW Thrift Challenge, give yourself a cookie from me. While my fabulous bloggy friend Katie loves to thrift silk scarves, I love to thrift pleated skirts. And I was especially excited about this blue one. I’d been admiring the pleated blue Zara skirt that so many bloggers (like the lovely Katherine) rocked this summer, but we don’t have a Zara here in Oregon (hell, we just got H&M last fall). So, of course I tried to thrift one. And for months, I had no luck. But, I kept my eyes open and finally found one, prompting a little happy dance in the aisle.

Happy Thursday, All!
Gracey

Gracey, as usual, you pulled off an interesting, beautiful thrifted outfit! You're my hero!! I have had no luck in thrifting, but I know I must keep trying. Eventually it's gonna pay off, I just know it. Thanks for the inspiration! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the colour blocking. And thanks to your influence, I have been looking for pleated skirts, but so far, only heavy winter woollen nightmares, nothing chic and swingy like this one. (It sort of begs for a twirl.) I live in hope!
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is perfection, and I love that you wore a thrifted silk shirt today, too!
ReplyDeleteI sooo knew you were going to wear a pleated skirt today!!! I purchased a black one last week.
ReplyDeleteOkay, all I can think about when I see that skirt is ironing. Is it a pain? I love the pleats, but I can barely last with a skirt with wide pleats. I buy them and I can never wear them because I hate the iron so much.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't all clothes be wash and tumble?
PS I like your outfit too, heheh, sorry for the random flow of thoughts I just dropped in your comments.
Well I love puns - I just can't help myself. I also love this look on you. And I am envious of your ability to rock that yellow like nobody's business.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement -- I love pleated skirts and thrifting is my main source. This skirt is really cute.
ReplyDeleteSecond try--these colors pop against your skin tone. Isn't it crazy how we tend to "collect" certain types of things from thrifts? My weakness tends to be jackets.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, that blouse is the best color ever. I love it! Your hair looks really cute, too.
ReplyDeleteIt kills me to see the Zara clothes people have that are so colorful and awesome and not available to me! But, I think you and I have proven successful thrifting can be more satisfying. This look is killer and I think you did great with the price, too.
ReplyDeleteThese bright colors look so good on you! Stop by and submit this look to my thrifting link up. I'd love to have you participate!

Wait, what? "Gettin' Jiggy With It" is a bad song? I love all of these colors on you! I especially like the belt tying it all together!
ReplyDeleteSo, not only is this a terrific outfit, but geeeeeeezzzz! Those prices are insane!
ReplyDeleteokay, that pleated skirt is amazing! the color, the fit, the length, it's all perfect! i love it. and love that you paired it with yellow! seriously, Gracey, love this look on you!

Love these colors together! The pleated skirt is your signature!!! Don't you love that?! Hugs! ~Serene
ReplyDeleteBargainous AND gorgeous. Now that's a great combo in an outfit. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy FAVORITE outfit!! You look beautiful doll! I just thrifted a pink pleated skirt that I can't wait to wear! I am on the hunt for a shirt in the same color blue as your skirt to wear with it! Kiah
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Yellow and blue is one of my favorite color combos.
ReplyDeleteahhh one of my favs! love the blue pleated skirt, you always have the best pleated finds!

Steffys Pros and Cons
Ha! You remind me of spirit days at my high school, because our colors were gold and blue (because of course they were), but you're waaaaay cooler than my high school! I know that sounds like damning with faint praise, but it's true. I'm pretty scared of silk stuff, but you rock it.
ReplyDeleteHaha love the title.. I say yay for thrifting.. I always say this repeatedly but I do not understand why so many people are afraid of thrift shopping.. You always find awesome pieces!
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Angel
If there were ever a reason to go thrifting this weekend, that skirt is it. I always have trouble finding skirts but I am hoping the more I go the better stuff I will find. Plus, it will keep my bank account much happier.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit sooooo much! I am officially bookmarking it as inspiration. I have been so busy this week I didn't get my thrift post linked up, but so happy I found your blog as a result of searching through the entries. You look amazing and I definitely a new follower!

Wow! What a great outfit! And it's all thrifted, which makes it double-great! The next time I hear someone say that thrifted clothes always look old and scruffy (yes, I've heard that more than once), I'm going to direct them to this post. ;)
ReplyDeletenice skirt!

I am totally in love with this look. The blue and yellow go perfectly together. You managed to pull off a great color blocking look while rocking the pleated skirt trend too! So fun - katy
