Get it? Because I’m
in double denim and a riding jacket. You’re welcome.
Corny puns aside, I feel like a cattle baron’s widow in this
outfit. Like my husband was killed by
outlaws and I have to manage our ranch and our 30,000 head of cattle
myself. This is what I’d wear in Abilene
to negotiate a selling price for this year’s cattle:
Because, really, nothing says “shrewd negotiator” like a
denim shirt (Caslon via Nordstrom) and denim skirt (thrifted) paired with a
riding jacket (Ralph Lauren, thrifted).
I also added a studded belt (Michael Michael Kors via Nordstrom),
goldenrod tights (Nordstrom), riding boots (Born Crown “Sosie” via Nordstrom),
garnet-and-cameo earrings & an equestrian scarf (Echo, thrifted).
Happy Tuesday, Everyone!
Gracey

very cute! love that blazer! xo
ReplyDeleteThat cut of skirt is super awesome on you! Lovin all the denim too!!

Did you get top dollar for your cattle, Gracey? Ooh, you look all Barbara Stanwyck! You know, I struggle to love the double denim, but this one works for me because it looks like a dress. A shirt and skirt together are fine; skirt or jeans and jacket, and I might be dubious... The riding jacket, and the bright colours of the scarf and pumpkin legs are definitely working for me with the denim. I think you may have converted me... Now see if you can change my mind about acid wash denim! xxxx
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a dress. Very cool.
ReplyDeletexo,

you are too cute, love your made up scenario
ReplyDeletethat belt is just perfect to disguise your not a dress look

I love denim.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, now I know how lucky I am that you sent me that gorgeous horse scarf 'cause the rancher's widow could have totally worked it :o
ReplyDeleteI'm so slow and stoopid after a long day at work that I'm reading along and wondering, "How did I miss that Gracey is married? How come I didn't know her husband died?" I am so glad you aren't recently widowed, um, right? :P
It's a tough life on the ranch, but you look up to the task. Are there any hunky cow-hands nearby?!
ReplyDeleteI actually thought you had a denim dress on until I saw the slight color difference. I'm not brave enough to wear that much denim, but power to you! I also love the situation you imagined to justify that ranch life. (:
ReplyDeleteGirl, denim on denim is the way to go. And by the way, you'd be the most stylish cow hand Abilene has EVER seen.

Too cute cowgirl! I hardly ever think double denim is a good idea, but this really works!
ReplyDeleteI love anything Ralph Lauren or Ralph inspired. I saw your button on Instagram and loved it. Kohl's has a great selection of his clothing and other items. Anyway, I finally got to the sunshine award....phew that was an all dayer. I thought this was a dress, great job! dawn suitcase vignettes xo
ReplyDeleteLOVE this outfit!! you look like you could be sparring with JR Ewing (R.I.P) and winning!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of this look is the yellow tights! They add the perfect dash of color. Also I totally didn't realize that the shirt/skirt were separates, they look like a denim dress.
ReplyDeleteYour writing is too funny! I'm sitting here all by myself, laughing.
ReplyDeleteThe riding jacket is beautiful! If you hadn't revealed that the denim was two pieces, I would have been convinced that this was a great DRESS. It looks lovely, with perfect accessories!
I love it, especially the buttons on the jacket. I often invent back stories for my outfits too. I'm glad that doesn't make me crazy... or if it does I'm in good company.
ReplyDeleteyour double denim could totally pass for a dress!
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
I definitely thought the denim was a dress! Very tricksy. Also love the outfit explanation, hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit AND the story behind it. Made me laugh. I do believe you'd would walk away from that Abilene cattle sale with top dollar for that head of cattle.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with the others. It so looks like a dress and a cool dress! Loving it with your blazer. My favorite on you for the fall!!
ReplyDeleteI love this look!!
ReplyDeleteCute and love the denim with the mustard tights!

I especially love the shape and length of this skirt - beautiful proportions throughout the whole wonderful outfit. Your story is my favourite - you definitely cut a fiercely competent and formidable figure! Totally awesome post.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for your kind comments over by me.
